Dan 'Chizi' Aceda

Singer- songwriter Dan ‘Chizi’ Aceda is fast becoming the flavour du jour of Kenyan fusion and jazz music with a reputation growing in leaps and bounds.

This multi-talented 26 year old released his first album titled Suluwe back in 2005 while at Nairobi- based Kijiji Records. An album that featured collaborations with top Kenyan musicians including Eric Wainaina, Kevin Wyre, Neema, Kanji Mbugua and Aaron Rimbiu, Suluwe introduced Chizi with a bang, prompting critics to term him a ‘lyrical genius’ with a penchant for storytelling all wrapped up in a sweet melody. Songs from this album such as Sanasana, Songa and Waache Waseme still enjoy massive airplay on Kenyan and pan-African TV stations.

Chizi’s sophomore album Benganology was launched at a colorful concert at Nairobi’s Museum Hill Area in July 2010. Benganology quickly rose to be among the most popular Kenyan releases of 2010. With another album on the way later this year, things are about to get, in his words, ‘Bengatronic.'
